Ruby Star Airpark

 Water Supply Systems    Home Page

This simple system relies upon a 3,000 gallon above ground tank that sits in the
homeowner’s hangar. This system does not capture rooftop rain.

The owner reports that the average usage for two adults is approx 2,000 gal per month.
Usage increases when they use their drip sprinklers for vegetation during the summer months.

Water is delivered by a local water hauling company for $50 per 2000 gallons of water.
The footprint for the entire water system is approximately 104 sq. ft. or 8'x13' which leaves plenty of room for airplanes.

Tank height is about 8' and there is a vertical sight gauge making it easy to detect the quantity left in the tank.

The pump is a Grundsfos, on demand pump, that produces a consistent 70 psi.
This system does not require a header tank due to the pump's design.
The water output was tied into the existing hangar and home water supply.

No additional modifications were necessary, and connection to the airpark's water system was capped.

The water filters are dual Big Blue. The first filter is a 10 micron sediment filter and the second filter
is a 5 micron carbon filter. Installation took less than 2 days and all work was accomplished by the homeowner.
No backhoe work was required given the existing line between the home and the hangar.

There are no buried tanks, and all components were readily available and are accessible for maintenance and inspection.

The sight gauge runs vertically alongside the tank.

This entire system cost the owner less than $2,500.
